We are starting our descent down over the Channel, through Belgium, and into Germany. What a great flight! They fed us -- a lot! The flight attendants were all extremely nice and accommodating. In our Comfy Class it was pretty sparsely populated, which meant for a lot of attention.

This was our first German airline and really there's no difference except amenities are nice and the food was very international. I almost wonder if they flew it in with them on the way in, cooked it themselves, and then served it on take-off. 

Aperitif of Campari Soda

Yes, they have Campari. LOVE! They also had Killerpitsch as a Digestif post-dinner, but I opted for a brandy instead. I had a brief flashback to a wild night in 2006 with Killerpitsch (a herb liqueur / krauterliquor) where Ryan and I had a mean game of Sorry!. Should you have to go back to your home awe, you had to take a shot. What were we thinking. I ended up on the floor of the bathroom; not because I was driving the porcelain bus but I just didn't make it back from changing clothes in the closet to our bedroom.

After a nice aperitif, first course started. It had every culinary thing represented.

Cheese course, amuse bouche, bread, salad, and yes, that's duck and it was delicious. Again, I am nearly certain the cooked it themselves. Most of the brands on the flight were German except the butter (Land o' Lakes, not Alpenbutter). The water was Apollenaris, the coffee creamer Kaffeesahne, etc. etc.

Remember how I said first course? This is the second course. Medium-rare steak. It was huge. And delicious. It's odd to have read silverware but if I had one complaint of the entire meal is that the knife needed to be sharper; it betrayed the steak for me since I thought it was shoe leather due to how hard it was to cut. Nope. Delicious. And a nice wine to match. A German Pinot Grigio for the first course, an Italian Rosso for the second course, and sparkling water throughout. (Mit Gas.)

After dinner, we relaxed and watched "The Danish Girl" at the same time. Literally, we pushed play at the same time so it was sort of like looking at a 3-D screen. We both enjoyed the movie and immediately went to sleep. It took a bit to get comfy, but I think we both slept 4-5 hours! Thank you Bose noise-cancelling headphones! The ride across the Atlantic was a bit bumpy at times, but in these big airplanes it's more of a shudder than bumps.

I failed to do this breakfast justice. Mind you, it had only been a bit since we last ate our multi-course dinner but this breakfast was delicious. Omelette, cheese and meat plate, this yummy jello fruit parfait straight outta the Lion House Cookbook, fruit, coffee, and fresh-squeezed Orange Juice. Pretty sure they brought those oranges with them on the way to Austin.

Next up, navigating Frankfurt airport and getting our rental car. Then, trip to the store for pillows and toiletries (we packed super light) on our way into the city to check into our hotel for the night. Afterwards, Apfelwein and a walking tour!
