As I mentioned yesterday, this week will be finishing out the last two nights of our trip - preferably in the Lakes district. The top town pick in my head was Varenna, but I waited too long to book the hotel and it's now fully booked. Argh.
Second choice might be Como (easy to get to Malpensa the last day of our trip, where we have an early morning flight) or another lake altogether like Lake Maggiore. The one bonus of the that lake would be the chance to dip into Switzerland! However, we're trying to make this a one-country trip and I don't need another idea to obsess about right now.
Anyhow, Como will be the focus of today's search. The hotels don't seem to be as view-friendly as Varenna but I have a feeling I'll come up with something.
