It's been a rather lazy yet productive day, doing bills and some laundry, after we tied one on last night with a pool night. It's been over 100F for who-knows-how-many-days and evenings bring a thirst for beer and float time in the pool. Next thing you know, 2 hours have passed, the ladder out of the pool is a little shaky, and it's time for bed.
Now that we're in the 30-day bubble (yeah, I'm really extending the 72-hour bubble, the lock-down time where everything is packed and the excitement and nervousness of travel sets in) I'm in hardcore planning mode. Last week focused on our Florence portion of the trip, with a hotel and museum reservations booked. This week will be finalizing the last two nights of our trip post-Venice.
During my chores today I've been watching our home videos from our 2006 trip to Germany. It's hilarious to see the excitement and our bedside reviews of each day. We filmed our 2008 trip throughout Europe but not our 2009 trip to UK. This year, however, I'm debating what to do. We're definitely going to buy a new camera and I don't want to buy a new camcorder, so we might take our existing one. It's a bit hokey (I got it for free from my previous employer with "spirit points") since it uses Mini-Discs and much of the audio in quiet settings is the whirr of the disc recording. :/
Next up, the packing list. This will be tricky, Rick Steves, since we have to bring clothes fit for a wedding that may only be worn once during the ten days. We'll need to be pretty crafty!
