It's been an exciting few weeks, I just love the process of preparing for our trip. I guess that is the Boy Scout in me (I am a proud Eagle Scout). It does appear that we won't dip under 100 F (38 C) until after we leave, and our first day in Milano looks a bit rainy. Loves.
Our new shoes arrived and we both love them. In what might be a reliability study sponsored by us, Keen shoes have donned our feet during every Europe trip. I wore one pair twice - I'm really excited for these. One time, in Stuttgart during Germany 2006, Ry's New Balance shoes were just not giving him enough support for all the walking. So we found a place that reminded me of Whole Earth Provisions, our local favorite travel store (ala REI), bought him a pair of Keen's, and proceeded on our way. There were blisters, so we've both been wearing our shoes to start breaking them in. I don't nearly walk as much as Ry but they should be pretty ready to go. I need to waterproof them though. And buy an umbrella. The packing list continues.
While at Whole Earth Provisions yesterday, I chickened out and only bought two pair of Smartwool socks, our favorite. They are pricy but last for-ev-uh.
The trip this week threw off my Italiano lessons, so I'm behind (of course). We'll practice as much as we can this week, but it's going to be a busy one. Ry's birthday is Tuesday (yay!) and I have book club on Thursday (need to finish the book...about half-way through). I cleaned Isaac's cage yesterday, for the first time, and it was actually pretty easy. We should only need to wipe it down and clean the perches before we leave.
Well, enough typing about all the things that need to be done, time to do something about it!
